Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi announced that education up to graduation level will be free in the province in the Government institutions. Pervaiz Elahi stated that it is a gift to the nation on the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan. Earlier CM Punjab hoisted the national flag in an official ceremony held at Lahore Fort to celebrate 75th Independence Day. On this occasion, Chief Minister Punjab said that earlier education was free up to matriculation, now education will be made free up to graduation, institutions for special children, and sports facilities will be increased.
Addressing the ceremony, CM Punjab said that education from primary to matric level was made free during his last tenure from 2002 to 2007. On the occasion, CM Punjab also paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces and police who sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism. He said that it is due to the sacrifices made by the armed forces and police that we are living in a peaceful environment after the terrorism affected Pakistan.
